The 102mm downhole motor and ORT BM48-175MWD instrument developed by Orient is capable of satisfying 118mm borehole directional well construction.

Shen XXXC borehole is a sidetracking directional well. After 139.7 casing sidetracking at 2096m, the 118mm borehole drilling was used till to 3083.99m for completion. The build-up section is 2095-2245.91 with the rate of 4.8°/30m. The inclination holding section is 2245.91-2392.11. The drop-off section is 2392.11-2512.12 with rate of 4.8°/30m. And the straight section is 2512.12-3109.02.

At 13:00 On Oct. 28th, 2015, Orient’s drill bit, downhole motor and instrument began directional drilling at 2096m and the drilling combination is 118mm cone drill bit + 1.25° downhole motor + top sub assembly + XO + 102mm MWD duplex joint + 105mm duplex-box non-magnetic drill collar + 18 pieces of 2 7/8” aggravated drill pipes + 2 7/8” drill pipe. Till 1:30 on Nov. 8th, 2015, 2 pieces of 7LZ102-4-5*114-1.25 downhole motor were used at 2586 and the construction of directional section, inclination holding section drop-off section and straight section was completed with displacement of 5.5-6 L/s, density of 1.25 g/m3, temperature of 78℃, viscosity of 80s, usage time of 189h, footage of 490m, average penetration rate of 2.6 m/h.
