The peristaltic oscillator is driven by mud water. It executes gently peristalsis on the drill pipe and the bottom hole assembly to improve weight being transferred to the bit significantly and reduce the well bore frication (to make static friction into sliding friction). It could also reduce stick-slip in all modes of drilling, especially when sliding drilling with a steerable motor. The peristaltic oscillator could help BHA exert maximum effectiveness and improve weight being transferred to bit in place, reduce torque vibration, which has a good application in the directional well and long horizontal well. At the same time, it could enhance the drilling efficiency in the complex drilling. The peristaltic oscillator also provides the following benefits during drilling:
1. Prevents weight stacking and allows excellent tool face control;
2. Through the switching of circuit control valve; Shaker will effect during horizontal drilling and will stop working when compound drilling; it will reduce the impact on instrument;
4. Reduce the impact on instrument through the adjustment of circuit on damping coefficient, and compatible to all kinds of MWD, which can install above or below the MWD;
5. Operation pressure difference of shaker decreases 3 MPa so that various drill bits is able to be applied during drilling;
6. It could also be used in continuous drill pipe operation and other non-drilling operations.
